Most of these walls are run by student volunteers lacking effective content moderation and accountability mechanisms, making it difficult to promptly remove harmful posts and leaving victims with limited recourse. Moreover, some confession walls deliberately amplify controversial content to boost traffic, further fueling online harassment. Experts urge universities to strengthen oversight and guidance of such campus platforms, clarify platform responsibilities, and establish efficient reporting and response systems. Students, too, must enhance their digital literacy and use anonymous tools responsibly to foster a healthier online campus environment.
