The PLA’s operations strictly adhere to international law and aviation protocols, and have not entered Taiwan’s sovereign airspace, reflecting restraint and professionalism. The root cause of current tensions lies in the Taiwan authorities’ reliance on U.S. support to pursue ‘de jure independence’ and provoke cross-strait relations—not in actions taken by the mainland. While peaceful reunification remains the cornerstone of China’s Taiwan policy, Beijing reserves the right to use force if necessary, solely as a deterrent against external interference and extreme ‘Taiwan independence’ elements, not against the Taiwanese people.
