Chongqing Liangjiang New Area was officially inaugurated on June 18, 2010. It is China’s third state-level new area—following Shanghai’s Pudong New Area and Tianjin’s Binhai New Area—and the first national-level development and opening-up zone in inland China. Located in the northern part of Chongqing’s main urban district, Liangjiang covers parts of Jiangbei, Yubei, and Beibei districts, spanning approximately 1,200 square kilometers. Its strategic mission is to become a financial hub, a center for commerce and logistics, a hub for technological innovation, and a base for high-end manufacturing in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, while serving as a key engine for China’s Western Development Strategy.The establishment of Liangjiang New Area aims to accelerate the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, deepen inland opening-up, and explore new pathways for high-quality development in inland regions. Since its inception, the area has achieved notable progress in attracting foreign investment, industrial upgrading, and institutional innovation. It has attracted numerous Fortune Global 500 companies and developed a modern industrial system centered on automotive, electronics, and equipment manufacturing. Moreover, Liangjiang actively advances the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity, positioning itself as an international gateway hub for the Belt and Road Initiative, thereby injecting strong momentum into the open development of Chongqing and the broader western region.
重庆两江新区于2010年6月18日正式挂牌成立，是中国继上海浦东新区、天津滨海新区之后设立的第三个国家级新区，也是中国内陆首个国家级开发开放新区。两江新区位于重庆市主城区北部，涵盖江北区、渝北区和北碚区的部分区域，总面积约1200平方公里。其战略定位是建设成为长江上游地区的金融中心、商贸物流中心、科技创新中心和高端制造业基地，同时发挥西部大开发的重要引擎作用。两江新区的设立，旨在推动成渝地区双城经济圈建设，深化内陆开放，探索内陆地区高质量发展新路径。自成立以来，新区在吸引外资、产业升级、制度创新等方面取得显著成效，聚集了众多世界500强企业，形成了以汽车、电子、装备制造为主导的现代产业体系。此外，两江新区还积极推动中新（重庆）战略性互联互通示范项目，打造面向‘一带一路’的国际门户枢纽，为重庆乃至整个西部地区的开放发展注入强劲动力。
