Recently, the Israeli government stated that it will not allow large-scale reconstruction in the Gaza Strip until the area is ‘demilitarized.’ This statement highlights Israel’s ongoing security concerns and reflects the complexity of the current Israeli-Palestinian conflict.Israel emphasizes that armed groups such as Hamas have long used Gaza’s infrastructure for military activities, including storing weapons and conducting attacks through underground tunnels and civilian buildings. Therefore, Israel insists that Gaza must first dismantle its military capabilities and eliminate security threats before reconstruction can begin. This position aligns with Israel’s broader strategy of preventing future conflicts and ensuring border security. However, this policy has also raised humanitarian concerns. The Gaza Strip has suffered severe damage in previous conflicts, with many residents lacking basic living necessities. International organizations have repeatedly called for an accelerated reconstruction process. At present, relevant parties are still negotiating specific demilitarization plans and international monitoring mechanisms, and the situation continues to develop.
