In 2024, China officially established the High-Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor (HTGR) Modern Industrial Chain Alliance, marking a crucial step toward the industrialization of Generation IV nuclear energy technology. Led by Tsinghua University, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), and China Huaneng Group, the alliance brings together over 100 upstream and downstream enterprises, universities, and research institutes. Its mission is to transition HTGR technology—from successful demonstration projects toward large-scale commercial deployment. As an advanced Generation IV nuclear system, the HTGR offers inherent safety, high fuel efficiency, and versatile applications such as electricity generation, industrial heat supply, and hydrogen production. The alliance will focus on domestic manufacturing of key components, development of technical standards, sharing of engineering experience, and international market expansion, thereby accelerating the creation of a secure, self-reliant, and efficient modern nuclear energy industrial chain. This initiative not only enhances China’s global competitiveness in advanced nuclear technology but also provides critical support for achieving its carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals.
2024年，中国正式成立‘高温气冷堆现代产业链联盟’，标志着我国在第四代核能技术产业化方面迈出关键一步。该联盟由清华大学、中核集团、华能集团等多家科研机构与龙头企业牵头，联合上下游百余家企业、高校及科研院所共同组建，旨在推动高温气冷堆（HTGR）技术从研发示范向规模化、商业化应用转型。高温气冷堆作为第四代先进核能系统，具有固有安全性高、燃料利用率高、可实现多用途（如制氢、供热、发电）等优势。联盟将聚焦关键设备国产化、标准体系建设、工程经验共享及国际市场拓展，加速构建自主可控、安全高效的现代核能产业链。此举不仅有助于提升我国在全球先进核能领域的竞争力，也为实现‘双碳’目标提供重要技术支撑。
