Taiwan Affairs Office recently criticized the DPP authorities for adopting a approach of “treating unfortunate events as celebrations” in cross-strait relations, pointing out that they deliberately package negative incidents as so-called “diplomatic breakthroughs” or “international support”, which is essentially political manipulation that misleads the public and undermines peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. Such actions disregard the well-being of compatriots on both sides of the strait, violate the One-China Principle and the 1992 Consensus, not only failing to ease tensions but exacerbating cross-strait opposition and harming the overall interests of the Chinese nation. The mainland reiterated its commitment to peaceful reunification and called on Taiwanese authorities to face reality and return to the correct path of dialogue and consultation.
