Recently, the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province announced a new list of recognized ‘Hunan Time-Honored Brands,’ with five enterprises from Changde successfully included. These brands, such as Changde Spicy Braised Duck, Taoyuan Tea, and Hanshou Sesame Cake, represent local specialties with distinctive regional characteristics. They were acknowledged for their long history, unique craftsmanship, and profound cultural heritage, serving as important representatives of Changde’s local commercial culture.Time-honored brands symbolize not only quality and credibility but also act as living carriers of local history and folk culture. Among the newly added enterprises, several have operated for over a century, integrating Changde’s unique geographical environment and cultural traditions—for instance, using premium ingredients from the Dongting Lake area and preserving ancient production techniques. This recognition will help promote brand enhancement, expand market influence, and encourage the protection and innovative development of traditional skills.To date, Changde now boasts 18 ‘Hunan Time-Honored Brand’ enterprises, spanning sectors like food, catering, and crafts, reflecting the city’s rich commercial heritage and cultural vitality. This initiative will further support rural revitalization and cultural-tourism integration, helping ‘Changde Taste’ and ‘Changde Manufacturing’ reach broader markets.
