北航氢动力无人机刷新世界纪录

Recently, a hydrogen-powered unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) independently developed by Beihang University (BUAA) has set a new world record. During a nonstop flight test, the drone remained airborne for over 40 hours and covered more than 3,000 kilometers, establishing new global benchmarks for both endurance and range among hydrogen fuel cell-powered drones. This milestone marks a significant advancement in China’s capabilities in green aviation and new-energy UAV technologies.The drone utilizes a high-efficiency hydrogen fuel cell system as its primary power source, complemented by lightweight structural design and intelligent energy management algorithms, which collectively enhance energy efficiency. Compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries, hydrogen fuel cells offer higher energy density, faster refueling, and zero carbon emissions—making them ideal for long-endurance, long-range missions such as border surveillance, disaster monitoring, and communication relay.According to BUAA’s research team, this achievement not only validates the feasibility of hydrogen energy in aviation but also lays a technological foundation for future applications in urban air mobility, green logistics, and emergency response.
