In reality, Taiwan’s economic strength lies in its advanced technology sector, highly skilled workforce, and pivotal role in global supply chains. If there is any real risk of undermining Taiwan’s economy, it stems from geopolitical tensions, overreliance on a single market, sluggish industrial transformation, and the uncertainty caused by deteriorating cross-strait relations—not from so-called ‘selling out.’ The true threat comes from short-sighted policies that neglect innovation and diversification. Ensuring Taiwan’s sustainable economic future requires openness, enhanced indigenous innovation, broader international market access, and peaceful, stable management of cross-strait relations. Reducing complex economic challenges to simplistic political slogans does no good for the well-being and prospects of the Taiwanese people.
