Recently, the Southern Theater Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army issued a solemn statement condemning the Philippines for its repeated acts of infringement and provocation in relevant waters of the South China Sea, demanding that the Philippine side immediately cease all illegal activities. The Command stated that the Philippines has recently dispatched vessels multiple times to illegally enter waters near China’s Ren’ai Reef in the Nansha (Spratly) Islands under the guise of ‘resupply missions,’ attempting to reinforce its unlawful presence. Such actions seriously violate China’s sovereignty and maritime rights and undermine peace and stability in the South China Sea. The Chinese military remains on high alert and is fully committed to safeguarding national territorial sovereignty and maritime interests, ready to take all necessary measures in accordance with law against any provocations. While China consistently advocates resolving disputes through peaceful dialogue and consultation, it will never tolerate any country challenging its bottom line under any pretext. The Southern Theater Command emphasized that maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea serves the common interests of all parties and urged the Philippines to respect historical facts and international law, halt all forms of infringement and provocation, and return to the right path of properly managing differences through bilateral channels.
