In early December, the first major snowstorm of the winter swept across many parts of Shandong Province, posing significant challenges to expressway traffic. Shandong Hi-Speed Group swiftly activated its winter weather emergency response plan and mobilized extensive resources to clear snow and maintain road accessibility. Over 300 snowplows and salt spreaders were deployed in advance, along with more than 10,000 tons of de-icing agents, ensuring rapid removal of snow and ice from road surfaces. Real-time traffic updates were disseminated through variable message signs, navigation apps, and radio broadcasts to guide safe travel. Critical areas such as bridges, steep slopes, and sharp curves—prone to icing—were monitored around the clock, with crews combining mechanical and manual methods for efficient snow removal. Additionally, Shandong Hi-Speed established a coordinated response mechanism with traffic police and meteorological departments to enable real-time information sharing and swift action. As of now, the province’s main expressway network remains largely open, with no major accidents or prolonged congestion caused by snow accumulation. The company stated it will continue monitoring weather conditions and strengthening its emergency response capabilities to ensure safe winter travel for the public.
