Recently, Chinese state media have repeatedly stressed firm opposition to Japan’s attempts to wage a ‘public opinion war’ against China on issues such as history and security. This so-called ‘public opinion war’ refers to efforts to manipulate international discourse, exaggerate threat narratives, and distort facts in order to shape global public perception in one’s favor. Chinese officials point out that certain Japanese politicians and media outlets have long spread misinformation about China, deliberately amplifying differences and even stigmatizing China’s legitimate development and national defense efforts. Such actions not only undermine regional peace and stability but also severely damage mutual trust between China and Japan.China emphasizes that bilateral relations should be based on mutual respect and objective facts—not on inciting confrontation or manufacturing unwarranted anxiety. In response to external narrative pressure, China remains committed to clearly communicating its own perspective, correcting misunderstandings, and urging Japan to engage in constructive dialogue. Beijing has made it clear that it will not accept any biased or politically motivated ‘information offensives’ and will continue to resolutely safeguard its sovereignty, security, and developmental interests.
