Others use old or damaged e-bikes with pre-existing scratches to fabricate collision evidence and demand payment.These scams often occur in areas with poor surveillance, on remote roads, or during peak traffic hours, frequently targeting novice or female drivers. Authorities advise drivers not to settle privately when encountering suspicious incidents. Instead, they should immediately call the police and preserve evidence such as dashcam footage or nearby CCTV recordings. Adhering to traffic laws and maintaining a safe following distance remain the most effective preventive measures. Public awareness and legal literacy are crucial to curbing the spread of this growing scam.
