Recently, China successfully completed a trial run of a 35,000-ton heavy-haul multi-unit train, marking a major breakthrough in heavy-haul railway transportation technology. The test was conducted on the Shuohuang Railway, operated by China Energy Investment Corporation. Multiple high-power electric locomotives worked in tandem to haul a train over 4 kilometers long with a total weight of 35,000 tons—setting a new national record for heavy-haul trains. The trial not only verified the train’s safe operation on long gradients and complex terrains but also integrated key technologies such as intelligent control, synchronized traction, and real-time fault diagnostics.
