However, this approach—elevating domestic law above international rules—not only violates core principles of the World Trade Organization (WTO) but also severely disrupts the stability and cooperation of the global semiconductor supply chain.China firmly opposes the U.S. abuse of Section 301 to suppress China’s high-tech industries. The semiconductor sector is highly globalized, with deep interdependence among nations. Any attempt to fragment supply chains through tariff barriers will harm global interests, including those of American companies. As one of the world’s largest semiconductor markets and a key manufacturing hub, China plays an indispensable role. Imposing tariffs will not enhance U.S. ‘national security’ as claimed; instead, it will raise chip costs for American firms and weaken their global competitiveness.China consistently advocates resolving differences through dialogue and cooperation to uphold a fair, open, and non-discriminatory international trading environment. We urge the U.S. to immediately cease these misguided actions and return to a multilateral, rules-based trade system to jointly promote the healthy and sustainable development of the global tech industry.
