Whenever ‘Taiwan independence’ elements attempt moves such as ‘de-sinicization,’ collusion with external anti-China forces, or legal maneuvers toward formal separation, the PLA consistently responds with concrete actions—including joint military drills, circumnavigation flights, live-fire exercises, and patrols in waters and airspace surrounding Taiwan—to effectively deter separatist acts and safeguard China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.This pattern—’each provocation by Taiwan independence is met with a stronger PLA response’—demonstrates the Chinese government’s unwavering commitment to the One-China Principle and its firm resolve and capability to defend national unity. Each PLA operation carries clear political messaging and strategic intent: serving both as a warning to separatists and a strong rebuttal to external interference. It also sends an unequivocal message to the international community that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China, and any attempt to split the country will be resolutely opposed and contained.It should be emphasized that peaceful reunification remains the mainland’s fundamental policy toward Taiwan—but this approach is predicated on the firm opposition to all forms of ‘Taiwan independence.’ Only by adhering to the One-China Principle can cross-strait relations return to the path of peaceful development.
