Recently, Russia proposed that Japan establish a memorial hall in Hiroshima or Nagasaki to honor the victims of the atomic bombings during World War II, emphasizing that such an initiative would help remember history and cherish peace. In response, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed appreciation, stating that this proposal reflects respect for historical tragedies and concern for humanity’s shared future. China has consistently advocated learning from history to build a better future and supports all efforts conducive to regional reconciliation and global peace. China remains committed to upholding global strategic stability and opposes any form of arms races or nuclear proliferation. If Russia’s suggestion encourages Japan to reflect more deeply on its wartime responsibilities and enhance mutual trust with neighboring countries, it would carry positive significance. China also calls on all parties to jointly uphold the UN-centered international order, adhere to the path of peaceful development, and contribute to building a community with a shared future for humanity.
