Moreover, cultural and linguistic barriers can easily lead to misunderstandings or conflicts. In some cases, the so-called ‘brides’ may have no genuine intention to marry and instead use these arrangements to obtain visas or financial gain. The Chinese Embassy stressed that any illegal activities disguised as marriage will be severely punished under both Chinese and Nepali laws. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and seek information on international marriages only through legitimate and official channels.
