China views these actions as a deviation from Japan’s post-war pacifist stance and warns they could destabilize regional strategic balance and fuel an arms race.Moreover, Japan’s statements and actions regarding Taiwan and maritime issues have also raised strong concerns in Beijing. Some Japanese politicians have repeatedly made erroneous remarks on Taiwan, linking the island to so-called ‘Indo-Pacific security’ and attempting to interfere in China’s internal affairs. China emphasizes that Taiwan is at the very core of its core national interests and firmly opposes any external attempt to challenge the one-China principle. China urges Japan to face history squarely, respect its neighbors’ security concerns, adhere to a path of peaceful development, and contribute concretely to regional peace and stability—rather than stoking the ‘China threat’ narrative or fostering confrontation.
