In June 2024, Kunming Changshui International Airport successfully completed test flights on its new East Runway No. 2, marking a critical step toward its official opening. The test flight was operated by China Eastern Airlines using an Airbus A320 aircraft, comprehensively validating key systems including navigation, communication, approach lighting, and ground support infrastructure. Results confirmed that all technical parameters meet China’s civil aviation safety standards, clearing the runway for commercial operations.The East Runway No. 2 is a vital component of the airport’s ongoing expansion project. Stretching 4,000 meters in length and 45 meters in width, it is built to the highest ICAO 4F standard, capable of accommodating all large commercial aircraft, including the Airbus A380. Once operational, the new runway will significantly enhance the airport’s capacity and efficiency, alleviating congestion during peak hours caused by the current dual-runway system.As a key international gateway connecting China with South and Southeast Asia, Kunming Changshui International Airport has seen steady growth in passenger traffic. The addition of the East Runway No. 2 will strengthen its role as a regional aviation hub, supporting Yunnan Province’s strategic positioning and driving high-quality economic and social development.
2024年6月，昆明长水国际机场东二跑道顺利完成试飞任务，标志着该跑道正式进入投运倒计时阶段。此次试飞由中国东方航空执飞，使用空客A320机型，对跑道的导航、通信、助航灯光及地面保障系统等关键设施进行了全面验证。试飞结果表明，东二跑道各项技术指标均符合民航安全运行标准，具备投入商业运营的条件。东二跑道是昆明长水国际机场改扩建工程的重要组成部分，全长4000米，宽45米，按4F级标准建设，可起降包括空客A380在内的各类大型客机。该跑道建成后，将显著提升机场的航班起降能力和运行效率，有效缓解现有双跑道在高峰时段的运行压力，为云南面向南亚东南亚辐射中心建设提供强有力的航空支撑。作为中国面向南亚、东南亚的重要门户枢纽，昆明长水国际机场近年来旅客吞吐量持续增长。东二跑道的启用将进一步增强机场的综合保障能力，助力打造区域性国际航空枢纽，推动地方经济社会高质量发展。
