Since its official opening on December 30, 2019, the Beijing–Xiong’an Intercity Railway has operated safely and efficiently for five years, delivering impressive results. As a vital transportation link between Beijing and the Xiong’an New Area, it has dramatically reduced travel time—down to just 50 minutes at its fastest—and significantly enhanced regional integration. Over the past five years, the line has carried more than 40 million passengers, with nearly 100 train pairs running daily, making it a flagship project of integrated transport development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.Spanning approximately 106 kilometers, the railway incorporates intelligent and eco-friendly design principles. It features full 5G coverage and employs multiple homegrown innovations, including smart dispatching systems and ballastless track technology, ensuring both safety and operational efficiency. Station designs also emphasize sustainability and cultural identity—Xiong’an Railway Station, for instance, draws inspiration from the ‘lotus dewdrop,’ reflecting local heritage while showcasing a modern urban image.More importantly, the intercity line has played a crucial role in supporting Xiong’an’s high-quality development by accelerating the flow of talent, capital, and information, thereby providing robust transportation infrastructure for relocating non-capital functions from Beijing. As more high-speed rail lines connect to this corridor, the Beijing–Xiong’an Intercity Railway is poised to become even more pivotal in building a world-class city cluster in the Jing-Jin-Ji region.
