In June 2024, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meetings in Vientiane. The two sides held in-depth discussions on China-Cambodia relations, regional cooperation, and other issues of mutual concern.Wang Yi emphasized that the traditional friendship between China and Cambodia remains strong and that their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership continues to deepen. He expressed Cambodia’s willingness to enhance practical cooperation with China in trade, infrastructure, people-to-people exchanges, and other fields, and to closely coordinate within ASEAN frameworks to jointly safeguard regional peace and prosperity.The meeting further strengthened political trust between the two countries, injected new momentum into bilateral and multilateral cooperation, and demonstrated their shared resolve to address global challenges and pursue common development amid a complex international landscape.
