Shenzhen is accelerating its efforts to become a global logistics hub, taking a significant step forward. As a pioneer of China’s reform and opening-up, Shenzhen benefits from its strategic geographic location, advanced transportation infrastructure, and a highly developed manufacturing and digital economy, making it a critical logistics node in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. In recent years, the city has vigorously promoted an integrated multimodal transport system—combining seaports, airports, railways, and highways—to enhance international logistics connectivity. In 2023, the Port of Shenzhen maintained one of the world’s highest container throughputs, while Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport saw steady growth in cargo and mail volumes. Moreover, Shenzhen is actively advancing smart logistics by widely adopting cutting-edge technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence, and blockchain to boost efficiency and transparency. Platforms like the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone and the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Cooperation Zone in the Lok Ma Chau Loop are also fostering institutional innovations for cross-border logistics and supply chain collaboration. With deeper implementation of regional trade agreements like RCEP, Shenzhen is well-positioned to integrate global resources and emerge as an efficient, intelligent, and sustainable international logistics hub, providing robust support for supply chain stability and upgrading across China and the Asia-Pacific region.
