Recently, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repeatedly articulated its position on the Ukraine crisis, emphasizing respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries and advocating the peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue and consultation. China consistently maintains that the security of all nations is indivisible and opposes any country seeking absolute security at the expense of others’ security. On the Ukraine issue, China has upheld an objective and impartial stance, calling on all parties to exercise restraint to prevent further escalation and supporting all efforts conducive to a peaceful resolution. In February 2023, China released a document titled “China’s Position on the Political Settlement of the Ukraine Crisis,” outlining 12 principles—including respect for sovereignty, ceasefire and cessation of hostilities, initiation of peace talks, and humanitarian protection—demonstrating China’s role as a responsible major country. China stresses that the international community should jointly promote a balanced, effective, and sustainable European security architecture to address the root causes of the crisis. China stands ready to work with all parties to play a constructive role in achieving a political settlement of the Ukraine crisis.
