Recently, the National Radio and Television Work Conference was held in Beijing. The meeting thoroughly studied and implemented the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, comprehensively reviewed the achievements of radio, television, and online audiovisual work in 2023, and systematically outlined key tasks for 2024. It emphasized maintaining the correct political direction, public opinion orientation, and value orientation; adhering to innovation while upholding core principles; promoting high-quality development; and accelerating the construction of an integrated omni-media communication system to enhance the reach, guidance, influence, and credibility of mainstream media. The conference also called for deepening supply-side structural reforms in content production to create more outstanding works characterized by profound ideas, artistic excellence, and high production quality. Additionally, it stressed strengthening international communication capabilities to better tell China’s stories and convey China’s voice. The meeting highlighted advancing Smart Radio & TV initiatives and accelerating the integration of emerging technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence, and big data into the broadcasting sector to drive industry transformation. It concluded that radio and television authorities at all levels must strengthen their sense of responsibility and mission, adopt higher standards and more concrete measures, and contribute robust public opinion support and spiritual momentum to China’s comprehensive advancement toward socialist modernization.
