Recently, China’s State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China jointly released the ‘General Technical Specifications for Infant and Toddler Furniture’ (GB/T 43858-2024)—the nation’s first mandatory national standard specifically targeting furniture designed for children aged 0 to 6. The standard will take effect on May 1, 2025.In terms of safety, the new regulation strictly prohibits sharp edges, pointed corners, or protruding parts. It also imposes precise limits on hole sizes and gaps to prevent injuries such as pinching or entrapment. Furthermore, allowable levels of hazardous substances—including heavy metals like lead, cadmium, and mercury—have been significantly reduced. Formaldehyde emissions must now comply with stricter thresholds, aligning with E1 or even ENF-grade standards to ensure environmental safety.The standard also mandates clear labeling of age suitability, safety warnings, and assembly instructions to help caregivers use products correctly. Furniture with folding, lifting, or moving components must include anti-pinch and anti-tip mechanisms.This new standard aims to elevate the overall quality and safety of infant and toddler furniture, offering stronger protection for young children’s health while promoting a more standardized and high-quality industry landscape.
近日，国家市场监督管理总局和国家标准化管理委员会联合发布了《婴童家具通用技术规范》（GB/T 43858-2024），这是我国首部专门针对0至6岁婴幼儿及儿童家具的强制性国家标准，将于2025年5月1日正式实施。新国标对婴童家具的安全性、环保性、结构稳定性等方面提出了更高要求。在安全方面，标准明确规定不得存在锐利边缘、尖端或突出物，并对孔洞尺寸、间隙等细节作出严格限制，以防止夹伤、卡住等意外发生。同时，所有可迁移元素（如铅、镉、汞等重金属）的限量值大幅收紧，甲醛释放量也参照更严格的E1级甚至ENF级标准执行，确保产品环保无害。此外，新国标还强调产品标识必须清晰标明适用年龄、安全警示、安装说明等内容，便于家长正确使用。对于带折叠、升降或活动部件的家具，必须配备防夹手、防倾倒等安全装置。该标准的出台将有效提升婴童家具整体质量水平，为婴幼儿健康成长提供更可靠保障，同时也推动行业向高质量、规范化方向发展。
