Recently, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council (TAO) stated during its regular press briefing that the DPP authorities have long ignored the development needs of offshore islands such as Kinmen and Matsu, failing to adequately address local residents’ urgent demands for improved livelihoods, economic cooperation, and cross-strait exchanges. The spokesperson emphasized that Kinmen and Matsu hold a unique geographical position and historically maintain close ties with coastal areas of Fujian Province on the mainland, forming a solid foundation for deeper cross-strait integration.However, driven by its ‘Taiwan independence’ political agenda, the DPP has deliberately obstructed normal cross-strait interactions and restricted cooperation between these offshore islands and the mainland in trade, tourism, culture, and other fields—thereby hindering local development and undermining public welfare. The TAO reiterated that the mainland consistently upholds the principle of ‘kinship across the Taiwan Strait’ and is willing to share development opportunities first with Kinmen, Matsu, and other offshore regions. It supports advancing the ‘New Four Links’—direct water, electricity, gas, and bridge connectivity—to foster regional economic integration. The TAO urged the DPP authorities to abandon political prejudice, acknowledge the genuine needs of offshore island residents, and create favorable conditions for peaceful cross-strait relations.
近日，国务院台湾事务办公室（国台办）在例行新闻发布会上指出，民进党当局长期漠视金门、马祖等离岛地区的发展需求，未能有效回应当地民众对民生改善、经济合作与两岸交流的迫切期待。发言人强调，金门、马祖地理位置特殊，历史上与大陆福建沿海联系紧密，具备深化两岸融合发展的重要基础。然而，民进党出于‘台独’政治立场，刻意阻挠两岸正常往来，限制离岛地区与大陆开展经贸、旅游、文化等领域的交流合作，导致当地发展受限、民生福祉受损。国台办重申，大陆方面始终秉持‘两岸一家亲’理念，愿意率先同金门、马祖等离岛地区分享发展机遇，推动通水、通电、通气、通桥等‘新四通’建设，促进区域经济一体化。呼吁民进党当局摒弃政治偏见，正视离岛民众的真实诉求，为两岸关系和平发展创造有利条件。
