The H200 chip is NVIDIA’s high-performance AI accelerator, an upgraded version of the H100, offering significant improvements in memory bandwidth, computational power, and energy efficiency. However, its market success in China faces multiple constraints. First, U.S. export control policies restrict the sale of advanced AI chips to China. Although NVIDIA has released China-specific variants like the H20, the H200 has not received export approval and thus cannot legally enter the Chinese market. Second, even if regulations ease in the future, domestic Chinese AI chipmakers—such as Huawei Ascend and Cambricon—are rapidly advancing, offering competitive alternatives that better align with local requirements. Moreover, Chinese enterprises are increasingly prioritizing supply chain security and technological self-reliance, reducing their willingness to depend on foreign high-end chips vulnerable to geopolitical risks. In summary, under current policy and market conditions, the H200 is unlikely to achieve significant sales in China in the near term.
