Specifically, (1) each scale must be equipped with a uniquely coded metrology chip for full lifecycle traceability; (2) all devices must connect to the national metrology supervision platform to upload transaction data in real time; and (3) the sale or use of scales without official type approval or tamper-proof seals is strictly prohibited. Violations may result in heavy fines for merchants and even criminal liability for responsible individuals. The regulation aims to eliminate short-weighting scams at their source and protect consumer rights. Experts advise shoppers to check for the official green inspection seal on scales and keep receipts for potential disputes.
