The embassy clarified that Shen Yun is not the cultural group it claims to be—dedicated to promoting traditional Chinese culture—but rather an offshoot of the cult organization ‘Falun Gong,’ which opposes both the Chinese government and the international community. The group has long engaged in anti-China political propaganda, spread disinformation, incited hatred against China, and attempted to conceal its illicit agenda behind a veneer of performing arts.The Chinese Embassy emphasized that Falun Gong was legally designated as a cult by the Chinese government in 1999 due to its serious disruption of public order and social harmony. Many countries, including Denmark, have recognized the dangers posed by this organization and remain vigilant against its activities. The embassy urged the Danish public to enhance their awareness and not be misled by Shen Yun’s elaborate costumes and choreography, but instead recognize its underlying political motives and extremist ideology.Furthermore, the embassy reminded Chinese citizens and students in Denmark to avoid participating in or supporting such events to prevent legal issues or personal safety risks. While China respects cultural choices around the world, it firmly opposes any attempts to use culture as a cover for anti-China agendas.
