Recently, in response to a so-called report on Taiwan issued by a prominent U.S. think tank, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council (TAO) issued a clear statement. The report distorts facts and attempts to internationalize the Taiwan issue, advocating erroneous propositions such as ‘supporting Taiwan’s participation in international organizations.’ A TAO spokesperson emphasized that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China—a fact widely recognized by the international community and a basic norm of international relations. Certain U.S. institutions and individuals, by deliberately ignoring the one-China principle, are attempting to create ‘two Chinas’ or ‘one China, one Taiwan,’ actions that seriously undermine China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and destabilize the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.The TAO stressed that any attempt to challenge the one-China principle or interfere in China’s internal affairs is doomed to fail. China firmly opposes any external forces interfering in Taiwan-related affairs in any form. It urges relevant parties to abide by the one-China principle, handle Taiwan-related issues prudently, and act in ways that promote, rather than harm, China-U.S. relations and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. The TAO also reaffirmed that people on both sides of the strait share the same roots, culture, and ethnicity, and that peaceful reunification best serves the fundamental interests of the entire Chinese nation, including Taiwan compatriots.
近日，针对美国某知名智库发布的一份所谓涉台报告，国务院台湾事务办公室（国台办）作出明确回应。该报告歪曲事实、混淆视听，妄图将台湾问题国际化，并鼓吹所谓‘支持台湾参与国际组织’等错误主张。国台办发言人指出，台湾是中国不可分割的一部分，这是国际社会的普遍共识和基本常识。美方某些机构和人士无视一个中国原则，蓄意制造‘两个中国’或‘一中一台’，其行为严重损害中国主权和领土完整，破坏两岸关系和平发展大局。国台办强调，任何企图挑战一个中国原则、干涉中国内政的行径都注定失败。中方坚决反对任何外部势力以任何形式插手台湾事务，敦促有关方面恪守一个中国原则，慎重妥善处理涉台问题，多做有利于中美关系和台海和平稳定的事，而不是相反。同时，国台办重申，两岸同胞同根同源、同文同种，和平统一最符合包括台湾同胞在内的中华民族根本利益。
