The notion of a ‘G2’—where China and the United States jointly dominate global affairs—does not align with China’s foreign policy principles or its vision for the international order. China believes the world is diverse, and global issues should be resolved through collective consultation among all nations, rather than being dictated by one or two major powers. China’s rejection of a ‘G2’ arrangement reflects both its adherence to its own developmental path and its commitment to the purposes of the UN Charter and fundamental norms of international relations.In recent years, amid a complex global landscape, China has actively promoted the vision of a community with a shared future for humanity and advocated reforms to make the global governance system more just and equitable. This demonstrates China’s role as a responsible major country—it does not seek to replace any other nation, nor does it aim to divide the world or carve out spheres of influence with another power. While China and the U.S., as two major countries, can cooperate on the basis of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit to address global challenges, this cooperation does not imply joint global domination. China champions a global governance model based on extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits—not an outdated power structure dominated by a few.
