The PLA’s routine combat readiness patrols and joint drills aim to deter ‘Taiwan independence’ provocations, uphold the one-China principle, and ensure regional peace and stability. The Taiwan Affairs Office reiterated that peaceful reunification best serves the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation, including Taiwan compatriots. However, China will never promise to renounce the use of force—a stance directed solely against external interference and the separatist acts of a tiny minority of ‘Taiwan independence’ elements, not the general public in Taiwan. China urges relevant parties to recognize the prevailing historical trend and cease all forms of ‘Taiwan independence’ adventurism and external intervention to jointly preserve the overall stability and peaceful development of cross-strait relations.
