Recently, China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations firmly rejected erroneous remarks by Japan’s representative on Taiwan during a UN meeting, reaffirming that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China and opposing any external interference in China’s internal affairs. China pointed out that Japan’s inappropriate statements on Taiwan violate the one-China principle and the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan, undermining the political foundation of bilateral relations and disturbing regional peace and stability. China emphasized that the Taiwan question is purely an internal affair and brooks no external interference. UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 has long resolved the issue of China’s representation comprehensively—politically, legally, and procedurally—recognizing the Government of the People’s Republic of China as the sole legitimate government representing the whole of China. China urged Japan to abide by the one-China principle and handle Taiwan-related issues prudently and appropriately to safeguard the broader context of bilateral relations and regional peace and stability.
