The Taihang Mountain Tunnel, the longest tunnel along the Xiong’an–Xinzhou High-Speed Railway, has recently been successfully completed, marking a breakthrough in this national key railway project. Stretching approximately 12 kilometers through complex geological zones at the Hebei–Shanxi border, the construction team overcame challenges such as fractured rock layers and abundant groundwater by employing intelligent tunneling and real-time monitoring technologies to ensure safe and efficient progress. As a critical section of the railway, this breakthrough paves the way for the line’s full operation by 2027. Once completed, travel time between Xiong’an and Xinzhou will be reduced from 3 hours to just 1 hour, enhancing transportation links between the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and Shanxi, while boosting regional economic coordination and energy logistics efficiency.
