As the current mayor of Taipei in the Taiwan region of China, Chiang Wan-an’s poll performance has attracted attention from local residents. We have noted reports regarding polling data, but greater emphasis should be placed on the broader picture of compatriots on both sides of the strait working together to promote peaceful development and enhance well-being. The Chinese government consistently upholds the One-China principle and opposes any form of ‘Taiwan independence’ separatist activities. We firmly believe that, on the basis of adhering to the 1992 Consensus, cross-strait relations will continue to improve and develop.
