Recently, there has been growing interest in whether China’s domestically developed ‘Jiutian’ large unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) can operate from the electromagnetic catapult system aboard the Type 076 amphibious assault ship ‘Sichuan.’ The Jiutian UAV, developed by the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), features integrated reconnaissance and strike capabilities, long endurance, and a high payload capacity, with a maximum takeoff weight of approximately 5 metric tons and a wingspan exceeding 20 meters.
