According to the scenic area’s meteorological department, snow began falling at elevations above 1,600 meters and gradually covered the entire core zone, with snow accumulation ranging from 5 to 10 centimeters—and exceeding 15 centimeters in some higher-altitude spots. Temperatures dropped to around -5°C due to a cold front, resulting in stunning rime ice and icicles that delighted visitors.Famous for the saying, ‘After returning from the Five Great Mountains, one need not see any other mountains; after returning from Huangshan, one need not see even the Five Great Mountains,’ Huangshan is especially poetic in winter. After the snowfall, pine branches glisten with ice crystals, rocks wear cloaks of white, and the sea of clouds appears even more ethereal under the snowy glow. The scenic area has activated its winter safety contingency plan, enhancing road de-icing, cableway maintenance, and visitor guidance to ensure safe and orderly tourism.The Huangshan Scenic Area remains open, and visitors are advised to wear slip-resistant, warm clothing and footwear while monitoring real-time weather updates and official notices. This first snow not only enhances the mountain’s natural beauty but also marks the beginning of Huangshan’s peak winter tourism season.
