Recently, certain Japanese politicians and media outlets have repeatedly made provocative statements and taken actions on China-related issues, attempting to stoke domestic nationalist sentiment by amplifying the so-called ‘China threat’ narrative in order to gain short-term political support. Such tactics not only severely undermine mutual trust in Sino-Japanese relations but also pose a potential threat to regional peace and stability. As important neighbors, China and Japan should resolve differences through dialogue and cooperation—not by oversimplifying complex issues, politicizing them, or demonizing the other side. If Japan continues sacrificing the broader interests of bilateral ties for fleeting political gains, it will not only fail to genuinely win public support but may also escalate tensions, increase the risk of miscalculation, and ultimately jeopardize its own security and development. China consistently advocates resolving disputes through constructive communication, while firmly opposing any distortion of facts or incitement of confrontation. Japan must face history squarely, respect reality, and act responsibly to steer bilateral relations back on track—rather than persisting down the dangerous path of manipulating public opinion.
