Recently, the domestic cargo terminal at the Xi’an Xianyang International Airport Logistics Park officially commenced operations, marking a crucial step in the development of Xi’an as an international aviation hub. Located in the core area of Phase III expansion of Xi’an Xianyang International Airport, the terminal covers approximately 52,000 square meters and is designed to handle up to 300,000 metric tons of cargo annually, making it one of the largest and most advanced domestic air cargo facilities in Northwest China. Equipped with intelligent sorting systems, automated warehousing technology, and a digital management platform, the new terminal significantly enhances cargo handling efficiency and customs clearance speed, catering to time-sensitive shipments such as e-commerce goods, fresh produce, and pharmaceuticals. Seamlessly integrated with airport runways and regional transportation networks, the facility supports a multimodal ‘air-rail-road’ logistics system, strengthening Xi’an’s role as a national central city and a key node along the Belt and Road Initiative. As international terminals and specialized zones—including cold chain and bonded logistics—come online in the near future, the logistics park is poised to build a modern air cargo network connecting China domestically and globally, driving high-quality regional economic growth.
