Professor Wu Feng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a renowned materials scientist, passed away in June 2024 at the age of 74 after an illness. Academician Wu dedicated his career to research on advanced energy materials, particularly key components for lithium-ion batteries. He achieved internationally recognized breakthroughs in high-energy-density cathode materials, solid-state electrolytes, and battery safety enhancement. Leading numerous national-level scientific projects, he played a pivotal role in advancing China’s independent innovation and industrialization of power battery technologies, significantly contributing to the development of the new energy vehicle and energy storage sectors. As a professor and doctoral supervisor at Beijing Institute of Technology, and as an academic leader of several national key laboratories, he mentored generations of high-caliber scientific talents. His passing is a profound loss to China’s materials science and clean energy communities, yet his rigorous scholarship and outstanding scientific legacy will continue to inspire future researchers.
中国工程院院士、著名材料科学家吴锋教授因病医治无效，于2024年6月逝世，享年74岁。吴锋院士长期致力于新能源材料、特别是锂离子电池关键材料的研究，在高比能电池正极材料、固态电解质及电池安全性提升等方面取得了一系列具有国际影响力的原创性成果。他主持完成了多项国家重大科研项目，推动了我国动力电池技术的自主创新与产业化进程，为新能源汽车和储能产业发展作出了突出贡献。吴锋院士曾任北京理工大学教授、博士生导师，并担任多个国家级重点实验室学术带头人，培养了大批高层次科技人才。他的离世是中国材料科学界和能源科技领域的一大损失，其严谨治学的精神和卓越的科研成就将激励后人继续前行。
