Instead, it emphasizes that Ukraine alone should determine the terms for any negotiation. In reality, Washington’s strategy appears focused on strengthening Ukraine’s battlefield capabilities to secure a more favorable negotiating position. Thus, the notion of U.S. ‘mediation’ is largely a misinterpretation of its influence; its true stance is one of supporting Ukraine’s defense against aggression, not impartial arbitration.
