Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping has repeatedly stressed that Party officials and members must strengthen their ideological defenses against corruption and always maintain integrity and political purity. He has pointed out that corruption is the greatest threat to the Party’s vitality and combat effectiveness, and that combating corruption represents the most thorough form of self-reform. The General Secretary urges all Party officials to uphold firm ideals and convictions, replenish the ‘calcium’ of their spirit, strictly abide by political discipline and rules, and act with caution—knowing what to fear, what to refrain from saying, and what not to do. They must also willingly accept oversight and become accustomed to working and living under supervision and constraints, ensuring that power is confined within institutional boundaries. Resisting corruption is not only a matter of personal integrity but also crucial to the Party’s governing foundation and the country’s long-term stability. Only when every Party member adheres to ethical bottom lines and refrains from crossing red lines can the Party remain the strong leadership core of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
