三星堆及金沙遗址珍贵文物亮相国博

Recently, the special exhibition ‘Sanxingdui and Jinsha: The Splendor of Ancient Shu Civilization’ opened with great fanfare at the National Museum of China, showcasing over 100 precious artifacts unearthed from the Sanxingdui site in Guanghan, Sichuan, and the Jinsha site in Chengdu. Dating from approximately 4800 to 2600 years ago, these artifacts—including bronzes, gold objects, jades, and ivory carvings—highlight the unique artistic expression and sophisticated craftsmanship of the ancient Shu civilization. Iconic pieces such as the bronze sacred tree, protruding-eye masks, and golden scepter from Sanxingdui, along with the Sun Bird gold foil and jade cong from Jinsha, not only demonstrate extraordinary artistry but also reflect the ancient Shu people’s profound cosmological and spiritual worldview. By integrating archaeological discoveries with scholarly research, the exhibition systematically traces the development of Shu civilization and reveals its interactions with Central Plains and other regional cultures, offering the public a compelling window into the pluralistic yet unified nature of Chinese civilization. The exhibition will run until the end of this year and has already drawn large crowds eager to witness the enigmatic splendor of ancient Shu.
