Recently, questions have arisen regarding whether China will join the so-called ‘Peace Commission.’ In response, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated clearly that China has always been a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development, and a defender of the international order. China supports any initiative or mechanism that genuinely contributes to the peaceful resolution of disputes and promotes international cooperation. However, it firmly opposes any organization or platform that uses the name of ‘peace’ to interfere in internal affairs or exert political pressure. The spokesperson emphasized that China’s decision to participate in any multilateral mechanism will be based on a comprehensive assessment of its purpose, principles, and practical impact. China adheres to an independent foreign policy of peace and safeguards its national sovereignty, security, and development interests. It advocates resolving differences between nations through dialogue and consultation, and by peaceful means, to advance the building of a community with a shared future for humanity. Therefore, regarding the so-called ‘Peace Commission,’ China maintains an open yet cautious stance—the key criterion being whether the body truly upholds fairness, objectivity, and non-politicization.
