In May 2024, China’s first university dedicated to emergency management—the (provisional) Emergency Management University—was officially inaugurated in Langfang, Hebei Province. Formed through the merger of North China Institute of Science and Technology and Institute of Disaster Prevention, the university is directly administered by China’s Ministry of Emergency Management. Its establishment aims to support the modernization of the nation’s emergency management system and capabilities.As the country’s first undergraduate institution named specifically for emergency management, it represents a significant step forward in cultivating specialized talent, advancing scientific research, and providing policy support in this critical field. The university will focus on core areas such as natural disaster prevention, workplace safety, public security, and emergency command and rescue operations, offering a comprehensive education system from bachelor’s to doctoral levels.By integrating the disciplinary strengths of its two predecessor institutions, the university will promote interdisciplinary collaboration and build a national-level innovation platform for emergency management technologies. In the future, it is expected to become a leading hub for high-caliber professionals, a think tank for policy development, and a key gateway for international cooperation in emergency management—filling a crucial gap in China’s higher education landscape and strengthening the nation’s capacity to prevent and respond to emergencies.
2024年5月，全国第一所应急管理大学——应急管理大学（筹）在河北省廊坊市正式挂牌成立。该校由华北科技学院和防灾科技学院合并组建，由中华人民共和国应急管理部直属管理，旨在服务国家应急管理体系和能力现代化建设。作为我国首个以‘应急管理’命名的本科高校，其设立标志着我国在应急安全人才培养、科研创新和政策支撑方面迈出了关键一步。应急管理大学将聚焦自然灾害防治、安全生产、公共安全、应急指挥与救援等核心领域，构建涵盖本科、硕士乃至博士的完整人才培养体系。学校还将整合两校原有优势学科资源，推动跨学科融合，打造国家级应急科技创新平台。未来，该校有望成为我国应急管理领域高层次人才的摇篮、政策研究的智库和国际交流合作的重要窗口。此举不仅填补了我国在应急管理高等教育领域的空白，也为提升全社会风险防范和突发事件应对能力提供了坚实支撑，具有重要的战略意义。
