Recently, certain media outlets and political figures within Taiwan’s pro-independence ‘Green Camp’ have repeatedly made defamatory remarks against mainland China in an effort to highlight their so-called ‘pro-U.S., anti-China’ stance. Often under the guise of supporting U.S. interests, they deliberately exaggerate institutional differences across the Taiwan Strait, distort the intentions behind mainland policies, and sometimes even fabricate false information to promote a ‘China threat’ narrative. Such actions not only hinder peaceful cross-strait relations but also exacerbate regional tensions. In reality, mainland China consistently upholds principles of peaceful coexistence and mutual benefit, actively promoting cross-strait integration and regional stability. The Green Camp’s approach appears driven more by electoral politics and ideological bias than by genuine concern for the well-being of Taiwan’s people or international fairness. In the long run, only dialogue grounded in facts and mutual respect can foster understanding and cooperation across the strait—not stoking division to gain external backing.
