上海发布“生育友好岗”四种模式

Recently, Shanghai unveiled four innovative models for ‘Family-Friendly Jobs’ aimed at alleviating the tension between career and childcare responsibilities for working parents, and fostering a more inclusive and supportive workplace environment.The four models include: flexible-hour positions, remote work positions, phased-return-to-work positions, and childcare-supported positions. Flexible-hour roles allow employees to adjust their schedules according to family needs; remote work positions enable staff to fulfill duties from home or other locations, reducing commuting stress; phased-return roles offer transitional arrangements for employees gradually returning after maternity or parental leave; and childcare-supported positions involve employers partnering with professional agencies to provide convenient and reliable infant and toddler care services.This initiative responds to the urgent societal demand for better parenting support amid persistently low birth rates, reflecting a shared commitment by government and businesses to promote long-term demographic balance. Through institutional innovation and resource coordination, these family-friendly roles aim to enhance job stability and career confidence among working parents, achieving a win-win between professional life and family responsibilities.Shanghai plans to encourage more enterprises and institutions to pilot these models and further refine supporting policies, creating replicable and scalable experiences for the rest of the country.
