According to the latest data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), retail sales of passenger vehicles in China reached 2.224 million units in November 2023, marking a year-over-year increase of 24.7% and a month-over-month rise of 5.8%. This figure not only set a new monthly high for the year but also highlighted the strong boost from year-end consumer demand and supportive government policies. Notably, new energy vehicles (NEVs) continued their robust performance, with retail sales hitting 881,000 units—a 38.1% year-on-year increase—and accounting for 39.6% of total passenger vehicle sales. Domestic brands further expanded their market share thanks to improved product quality and competitive pricing, while joint-venture brands faced mounting pressure. Additionally, many regions extended or enhanced incentives such as purchase subsidies and trade-in programs, combined with promotional activities during the ‘Singles’ Day’ shopping festival, effectively stimulating consumer interest. Looking ahead to December, the market is expected to maintain steady growth, driven by year-end sales targets, pre-Lunar New Year demand, and the launch of new models.
