A TAO spokesperson emphasized that the root cause of current tensions across the Taiwan Strait lies in the DPP authorities’ collusion with external forces and their persistent pursuit of ‘Taiwan independence’ separatist activities. The mainland consistently adheres to the fundamental policy of ‘peaceful reunification and one country, two systems,’ upholds the one-China principle, and firmly opposes any form of ‘Taiwan independence’ separatism and external interference. The spokesperson further stressed that the People’s Liberation Army’s drills and deployments around the Taiwan Strait are legitimate and lawful, undertaken solely to counter security threats and protect China’s core national interests. China urges relevant parties to view its defensive measures objectively and work together to uphold regional peace and stability.
